Standard Entrance Examination (First Term)
Candidates are tested for high-school knowledge in five to six subject areas in a test taken at the University Examination Center. Candidates are also tested on both Japanese and English. Candidates must be able to apply basic knowledge to problems in humanities.
Standard Entrance Examination (Second Term)
Candidates are tested for high-school knowledge in four to six subject areas in a test taken at the University Examination Center. In a separate examination, candidates write a short essay designed to evaluate their writing, reading, comprehension, and presentational skills.
Returnee Students Entrance Examination
Returnee candidates are tested separately. The language skills (Japanese and English) of returnees are assessed based on the materials in humanities. Returnee candidates are also asked a variety of questions in an interview setting, which aims to determine their motivation and ability in humanities. Scores from these two assessments will be combined to determine whether they get a place in the department.
Self-supported Foreign Exchange Student Special Entrance Examination
Candidates are assessed for Japanese language skills based on foreign student exam. Candidates also write an essay in Japanese and are assessed for skills in reading, writing, comprehension, and presentation. Candidates are also interviewed in person that evaluates their motivation and ability. Scores from These two assessments will be combined to determine whether they get a place in the department.
Admission Office Entrance Examination (International Baccalaureate Entrance Examination)
Candidates are assessed based on your transcripts and recommendations, educational backgrounds, and motivation and ability in humanities, and presentation skills.
Recommendation Entrance Examination I (without the National Center for University Entrance Examination)
Candidates are assessed for a questionnaire, recommendation letters, a cover letter, as well as presentational skills and motivation. Candidates also write a short essay in a humanity subject and assessed for writing reading, comprehension, and presentational skills. assess motivation and ability. Scores from these two assessments will be combined to determine whether they get a place in the department.
