Our mission statement

Amid intensifying globalization and rapid scientific and technological development, our lifestyle is rapidly changing. At no point in human history has the fundamental question “what does it mean to be a human?” been more important. Our department is distinguished by an approach to this fundamental question which integrates multiple branches of the humanities, including literature, philosophy, and other aspects of the rich intellectual heritage of human history.

Our mission is to apply the knowledge humans have achieved to an ever-changing modern world. We aim to offer the best education for our students, who will develop:

1. keen interest in, and wide knowledge of, human societies and cultures
2. high level research skills in humanities
3. the ability to conduct logical reasoning and the presentation skills applicable to various fields beyond the humanities
